Checkout Charity Shaming Part of Episode
The South Park episode called "Safe Space" has a sub-plot where Randy Marsh experiences guilt at the Whole Foods checkout line. The topic was covered previously in a spoken word performance art piece embedded here. In all likliehood, the similarity is purely coincidental.
Note that the above video was written in 2012 and predates a similar subplot on a South Park episode aired October 21, 2015.

The Role of Reality
In the episode, Butters is tasked with sanitizing the social media accounts of Cartman and a series of other parties so that they do not see negative comments. The practices of fat shaming and charity shaming are combined, and in the ironic ending the concept of reality is executed while people absolve themselves of their guilt by giving the task of erasing negativity to the impoverished. Like many such satirical endings, there isn't as much of a moral as there is an overall comment on people's ability to deny the unpleasant nature of social media and modern culture. And it was pretty damn funny.
Boring Academic Thematic Analysis
One of the key themes in the sub-plot involves the embarrassment at appearing to be uncaring when it comes to making a donation, especially when you may have already made such contributions on multiple occasions.
